Equipment and Software

Equipment Check-Out

Available equipment includes a laptop, projector, two digital cameras, several handheld Garmin GPS units, and one Trimble GPS unit for Geography & Planning faculty and student research.

The equipment is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Reservations can be made up to 3 weeks in advance from the desired check-out date.

The maximum check-out period is 72 hours (3 days). Check-out for a longer period of time must have prior, written approval from the Department Chair.

Software Installation

ArcGIS

ArcGIS is available for student/faculty/staff home use for free. There are two options for installing the software:

  • Take your computer to the Computer Support Center and they will install it (Anne Belk Hall, 262-8324)
  • Visit their website for instructions on how to downloand and install it yourself. 
If ArcGIS is already on your personal computer but your license has expired (July 31st of each year), complete this form for ESRI license renewal

ERDAS

ERDAS offers a student licenses that include GeoMedia Professional and IMAGINE Professional. The software includes a one-year license for no cost. To receive the student bundle, please submit the ERDAS License Webform, a LAC will be generated for you. At that time you can follow the instructions in the webform to download the software and install it.
