Bio

I am an Andean anthropological archaeologist working on integrating aspects of archaeological research with community outreach. I am interested in past human-environment interactions, as well as the economic, social, and material implications of ancient practices on the Central Andes of Peru, and how they resonate with today’s education programs, as well as ways to engage local populations with their past, cultural heritage, and the legacy of their ancestors.

Research Profile

My research examines communities of practice over the longue durée in Nivín, a region of the middle Casma Valley, the north-central coast of Peru, based on the analysis of multiple lines of evidence, including architecture, pottery making, and food consumption, spanning the period from BC 200 to AD 1150. I tie these results to larger patterns that developed during the Middle Horizon in Peru.
