Software Installation

ESRI ArcGIS

Esri has announced that ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap and its associated suite of tools, including ArcGlobe, etc.) will no longer be available through the Education Site License beginning July 1, 2024. This means that all current ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap) users will need to transition to ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS Online by June 30, 2024. For further details, see ArcMap Retirement in Education Programs .

ESRI products are freely available to current faculty, staff, and students of Appalachian State University. There are two options for installing ArcGIS:

  • Install the software and request a license by following these instructions.
  • Take your computer to the Computer Support Center (Anne Belk Hall) to have the software installed for you.

For other license issues, contact the GIS Lab Manager.

If you are interested in accessing trainings provided by ESRI, complete the ESRI Training Webform. For information regarding the latest in training, visit training.esri.com.
