Scholarship Opportunities

The Department of Geography & Planning offers a number of scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students in the department. Each of these scholarships were created to honor the contributions of former faculty members and alumni by providing support for the academic efforts of geography and planning students at Appalachian State University.

Requirements

The requirements for the scholarships vary, but typically include:

  • Full-Time Enrollment in Geography or Planning Degree
  • Junior or Senior Status
  • 2.5+ GPA

Many scholarships also consider the financial need of the student.

Undergraduate Scholarships

Graduate Scholarships

The amounts of the scholarships vary from year to year, but typically range between $250 to $750. Students are invited to apply for the scholarships in February or March, with scholarships awarded for the following academic year.
